Number Harmonix among the studios who will use the show to debut something new. The developer will be hosting a panel on April 7th at which a brand-new title will be shown for the very first time.
Harmonix’s John Drake recently assured players that Rock Band DLC will continue to arrive week after week for a long, long time to come. Obviously, that’s great news for fans (like me). That said, it’s going on two years since the studio released a new Rock Band game, and Harmonix has gone on record stating that the series is due for a “fundamental creative reinterpretation.”
Given that the name of Harmonix’s PAX East panel is “Harmonix and the Evolution of Beatmatch Gameplay,” could the developer be ready to premiere the next incarnation of Rock Band? Check out the description from the PAX East website.
PAX East would be a fantastic venue for Harmonix to take the wraps off a new Rock Band title, but by all counts, the studio has at least a couple of projects in development. Particularly intriguing is the mysterious PSN/XBLA/Facebook game that has apparently been brewing for a while. Could it be a something along the lines of the Rock Band iPhone game (or, for that matter, Amplitude and Frequency), namely a rhythm title that doesn’t require plastic instruments to play? One way or another, we’ll have our answer in about a week’s time.
Harmonix’s PAX East panel takes place Saturday, April 7, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM in the Manticore Theater.
Ranters, what do you hope Harmonix’s PAX East reveal turns out to be? Let us know in the comments below.
